The 20th annual Variety Bash has travelled from Christchurch to Auckland raising and distributing money for Kiwi kids. 
The Bash is a convoy of quirky vehicles, celebrities and personalities that travels through the country raising and distributing
funds and funds to Kiwi kids.The 2010 Bash distributed over $230,000 in grants to sick, disabled and disadvantaged Kiwi kids to help them reach their full
potential.
Visiting over 3000 children as it travelled from Christchurch to Auckland via Hanmer Springs, Takaka, Nelson, Blenheim, Wellington,
Masterton, Palmerston North, Whanganui and Whakapapa Park, the Bash and its volunteer participants raised over $30,000 by rattling buckets.
Our 20th anniversary Bash was always going to be very special we started it with a pre-Bash trip to the Chatham Islands to
bring the Bash to the children there and celebrate the achievements of six men who have participated in every single Bash," said Lorraine Taylor, CEO of Variety - The Children's Charity.

Peter Drummond, Dave Shorter, Geoff Bentham, Murray Mojo ODonnell, Lou Vandermeer and Graeme Knight were part of a group of 25 that distributed
grants and participated in community projects in the Chatham Islands.
Celebrities who joined in the fun of the Bash included Outrageous Fortune star Shane Cortese, actor Peter
Elliot, Monty Beetham, Shortland Street stars Mauri Stokes and Shaun Edward-Brown, Ronald McDonald, Australian magician Super Hubert, Variety Ambassadors Ewen Gilmour, Mark Wright, and Liane Clark, Cocksy the Builder, Constable Bryan and Bobby from the TV3 programme Bryan and Bobby, Alix
Bushnell and Bronwyn Turei from Go Girls, and Variety scholarship mentor Jayne Kiely.
One of the Bashs 20 year sponsors Ford New Zealand spread the message of the Bash around the Wellington area with a Donation Drive that distribute 20
grants in 20 hours, one grant for each year it has been a sponsor. McDonald's New Zealand has also been a sponsor of the Bash for 20 years.

The 2010 Bash involved 50 vehicles and over 250 volunteer Bashers who took the Bash's special brand of sunshine to Kiwi kids and
communities throughout the country. After the fun had finished for another year, special award presentations were made. The Spirit of the Bash award was won by the Fishpot Cafe team and Pat and JC Courtney were presented with the Children's Commissioner's Compassion Award by the
Children's Commissioner.
