Variety
Bash®
What is the Bash?
At the heart of Variety's fundraising efforts is
the very unique Variety Bash®
- a mad-cap adventure full of eccentric
vehicles, unusual characters and heart-felt philanthropy the Variety Bash
travels hundreds of kilometres every year raising funds, distributing grants and
telling the Variety story.

Not for the faint hearted, the Variety Bash brings
together some very diverse personalities and activities in what has become
one of New Zealand's best known and most widely recognised fundraising events.
Full of strange challenges, practical jokes, warmth and camaraderie, the Bash is
a unique experience everyone should do at least once.
The Bash is not a race, and the winner is not the
one who crosses the line first, but instead the entrant seen having the most fun
while fundraising for New Zealand children.
Committed Bashers come together each year to raise
funds, distribute grants and bring a unique brand of sunshine to children across
New Zealand. All funds raised in New Zealand stay in New Zealand to help sick,
disadvantaged and disabled Kiwi kids and child-related organisations.
The Variety Bash takes place over one week in March
every year, with fundraising and team sponsorship continuing throughout the
year.
What is the Mini Bash?
For those that can't take the time away to join the Variety Bash, there's
the mini-Bash, a long-weekend 'introductory course' held in September. This
gives you a fantastic taste of the fun of the main
Bash.
Who can enter the Bash and
the Mini Bash?
Anyone can enter the Bash, and many entrants come
back year after year moved by the powerful impact of meeting the children who
benefit from their fundraising and their commitment to the cause.
Bashers drive an eclectic range of 'older' vehicles
(preferably pre-1970), many of which have been specially customised to 'reflect
their teams personality' but even if you don't have access to a vehicle you may
still be able to join in the fun as 'crew'. There are ex-Bash vehicles
available for sale - for further information, please contact the Bash Director,
Adam Leslie on 09 520 4111 or by email
