Thanks to gifts from people like you, Genevieve is able to get the help that she needs. Read more
Four-year-old Genevieve lives in Taranaki with her parents. She has a rare metabolic disease called Classical Methylmalonic Acidemia (MMA). It is a complex disease requiring stringent management of dietary food and fluid intake and a complex medication regime. The MMA has caused progressive kidney dysfunction and she is now in end stage failure and will require a kidney transplant. Genevieve is also autistic.
Due to her condition, Genevieve can go through up to 30 nappies per day. The nappies aren’t always enough and her parents also get through vast amounts of washing to ensure Genevieve’s clothes and bedding are clean and dry. With your support, and that of the Iron Bridge Foundation, Variety recently provided funding for Genevieve, enabling her to have speech language therapy. The funding also contributed to affording some of the nappies that are a huge financial burden on the household.
Genevieve’s parents thanked us, telling us that this funding would not only benefit their daughter directly, but would afford them other essentials such as food and utility bills, as well as activities so they can make the most of the time they have with Genevieve.
Your gift could make a dream come true this Christmas for a child like Genevieve
