Lynette and Allan Rowan are missing out on the joys of being grandparents, instead, the Waiuku couple are bringing up their grandchildren. The Rowans took on the responsibility because the children could no longer live with their parents, who were struggling with their own problems. Three of the brothers were on the Variety Kiwi Kid Sponsorship (KKS) programme - the first starting on the programme four years ago. Variety started KKS in a bid to help parents pay for back-to-school costs, such as uniforms, stationery and extra-curricular activities.
