Every day, 1 in 5 Kiwi kids go without the basics most of us take for granted. This has a profound impact on their health, education and self-esteem.
Thanks to our generous supporters, Variety is changing this one child at a time.
With your help, when a child is going without essentials, we give them exactly what they need – like warm bedding, clothing, school uniforms and stationery.
When a boy or girl is missing out on extra-curricular opportunities, we give them the chance to join in – whether it’s swimming or music lessons, having their own bike, going to school camp, trying out a new activity, or pursuing a goal in the arts, sport or education.
And when they require an extra hand, we provide funding for additional needs, like medical or mobility equipment, therapeutic care, tutoring, or a digital device.
We know that not all kids need the same things.
That’s our difference at Variety.
We give each kid what they need for a happier, healthier childhood – the childhood that every Kiwi kid deserves.

1 in 5 Kiwi kids live in deprivation. Variety Kiwi Kid Sponsorship connects a caring New Zealander with an individual child to provide them with the basic essentials and life opportunities they would otherwise miss out on. For as little as $50 a month you can give a child access to the same opportunities as other kids, a happier, healthier childhood and the foundation for a better future. Find out more

Each year Variety provides hundreds of deserving or disadvantaged children with the freedom and independence of their very own bike. Some children have overcome adverse circumstances, in some situations the family is simply not in a position to purchase a bike and in other cases the programme recognises and rewards children who are role models at their school or in their community.
